Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using Idembe's money transfer services. By using our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Idembe. Please read them carefully as they affect your legal rights and obligations.
By creating an account or using Idembe's money transfer services, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use this service. Idembe is operated by Pristine Technologies Ltd, registered in Rwanda.
Idembe lets you send money from Canada (CAD) or the United States (USD) to Rwanda (RWF). You pay by card via Stripe; funds are paid out to your recipient's MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money account through our licensed payout partner (Flutterwave).
We charge a flat 3% fee on every transfer, with a $1 minimum charge on small amounts. There are no other fees. The fee is shown and confirmed before you pay: what you see at checkout is what you're charged.
We convert your money using the real mid-market exchange rate (the same rate banks use when trading with each other), with no additional margin added to the rate. The rate is locked in at the moment you confirm your transfer and shown to you before payment.
Transfers are limited to $2,000 per transfer and $5,000 per month after your identity has been verified (KYC). Unverified accounts may be limited to smaller amounts or blocked from sending until verification is complete. We may adjust limits to comply with regulatory requirements or fraud-prevention obligations.
Mobile money payouts (MTN MoMo, Airtel Money) typically arrive within seconds of your payment settling. Delivery times are estimates and may vary due to factors outside our control, including payout-partner or mobile-network delays.
If a transfer fails to reach your recipient, or you cancel before it settles, refunds are processed back to your original payment method within 3–5 business days. Once a transfer has been paid out to your recipient's mobile money or bank account, it cannot be reversed or cancelled. Contact support@idembe.rw as soon as possible if you believe a transfer was sent in error.
We are required to verify the identity of every sender before allowing full transfer limits. Verification is performed by Didit and typically requires a government-issued ID and a live selfie. We collect and retain this information to comply with Canadian and Rwandan anti-money-laundering (AML) obligations, as overseen by FINTRAC (Canada) and the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR). Idembe's registration with Rwanda's National Bank (BNR) and Canada's FINTRAC is currently pending; we do not claim to be a fully regulated financial institution until that registration is complete.
Initiating a card chargeback for a transfer that was successfully delivered to your recipient, instead of contacting our support team first, may result in your account being suspended pending investigation. If you have a dispute about a transfer, please contact support@idembe.rw before contacting your card issuer. Most issues can be resolved directly and faster than a chargeback process.
To use our services, you must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into agreements. You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep it up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
If something goes wrong with a transfer or you're unhappy with our service, email support@idembe.rw with your transaction ID and a description of the issue. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve most within 5 business days. If you're not satisfied with our resolution, you may escalate to the relevant regulator once our BNR/FINTRAC registration is finalized.
To the extent permitted by law, Idembe and its suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, our services, including delays caused by third-party payment processors, payout partners, banking networks, or events outside our reasonable control.
Information on our platform (including this page) could contain errors and may not always be current. Idembe may update these Terms of Service at any time; continuing to use the platform after an update means you accept the revised terms. We recommend checking this page periodically.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Rwanda. Any disputes arising from these terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Rwanda.
