Privacy Policy

Account details you provide (name, email, phone number). Identity documents and a live selfie collected via Didit during KYC verification. Payment details processed directly by Stripe: your card number and full card details never touch Idembe's servers; we only receive a payment confirmation token. Transaction history: amounts, recipients, delivery methods, and status of every transfer you make.

To process your transfers, verify your identity as required by Canadian and Rwandan anti-money-laundering (AML) obligations, as overseen by FINTRAC (Canada) and the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR), detect and prevent fraud, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, improve our services, and communicate with you about your account and transfers.

We retain identity verification records and transaction history for as long as required by Canadian and Rwandan financial-recordkeeping and AML regulations (typically 5–7 years after your last transaction), even if you close your account. Account details are retained while your account is active and deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period after closure, except where retention is legally required.

We share the minimum information necessary with: Stripe (payment processing), Didit (identity verification), our payout partner Flutterwave (delivering funds to mobile money accounts), and regulators or law enforcement where required by law. We do not sell your personal information to third parties or use it for third-party advertising.

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS 1.3 encryption in transit, restricted access controls, and regular security review. Card data is handled entirely by Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1); Idembe never stores full card numbers.

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information (subject to our regulatory retention obligations above), request a copy of your data, and object to certain processing activities. Contact support@idembe.rw to exercise these rights.

As a cross-border money transfer service between Canada and Rwanda, your information is processed in both countries and by service providers operating internationally (including Stripe and Didit). We require appropriate safeguards from every partner we share data with.
